work > Field

Field is a series that explores how landscapes—both physical and psychological—shape memory, identity, and narrative. Conceived in 2023 and developed during my residency with Artica Svalbard in Longyearbyen—the northernmost inhabited settlement on Earth—the project responds to the layered intersections of beauty, climate change, and contested histories.

Created while immersed in the Svalbard and Jan Mayen Archipelago during the spring and summer of 2025, Field continues my ongoing investigation into place, remembrance, and environmental transformation. Building on the visual language of my earlier series, Majestic and Crossing, these intricately hand-carved woodcuts reflect on the fragility of our connection to the land—and to each other. Bridging distant geographies, Field evokes narratives that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
