Field
Field is an ongoing series that explores how landscapes—both physical and psychological—shape narrative, memory, and identity. Conceived in 2023 and developed during a residency with Artica Svalbard in Longyearbyen—the northernmost inhabited settlement on Earth—the project responds to the layered intersections of beauty, climate change, and contested histories.
Created during an immersive period in the Svalbard and Jan Mayen Archipelago in the spring and summer of 2025, Field continues my ongoing investigation into place, remembrance, and environmental transformation. Expanding on the visual language established in my earlier series Majestic and Crossing, these intricately hand-carved woodcuts reflect on the fragility of our connection to the land—and to each other. Bridging distant geographies and lived experience, Field evokes narratives that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
